Day 19 - Petting a Dog for Five Minutes: Can It Really Help Your Mental Health?

Forget the yoga mat—today’s self-love challenge is about spending five minutes just petting Poe, my dog.

The cringe version of this would’ve been doing yoga together for ‘mindful bonding.’ But let’s be real: Poe would’ve either stared at me like I’d lost it or tried to steal the spotlight.

Instead, I sat on the floor, gave him some well-deserved attention, and let the stress melt away. Turns out, five minutes of belly rubs and head scratches is all it takes to feel a little calmer.

Self-love doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s just appreciating the unconditional love of a pet who doesn’t care if you’ve had a bad day—as long as you’ve got treats.
